Why See A Christmas Carol?

Holiday & Christmas ShowsFamily Shows

Niagara-On-The-lAKE's newest Christmas tradition!

The festive favorite is about to make its mark this Christmas at the Royal George Theatre's Shaw Theatre once more! Charles Dickens' beloved story is brought magically to life on stage, in this enchanting new production by Tim Carroll. A Dickens expert, Carroll first premiered his production in Norway to rave reviews, before enjoying it's North American premiere in 2022. The picturesque settings of Niagara-On-The-Lake, coupled with the annual Candlelight Stroll, and now a chance to experience this play will make the holidays even more memorable!

What is the story?

Ebenezer Scrooge doesn't see the point of letting his employees have a day off for Christmas, not even kind Bob Cratchit, whose son Tiny Tim is very sick. Eventually, he is convinced and retires to his room to pass Christmas Eve as he usually does, alone. But this Christmas is different. He has a visitor for a change, the wretched soul of his former business partner Jacob Marley. Doomed to wander the earth for eternity for his sins in life, Marley warns Scrooge of three impending visitations. In a flurry of fear, he encounters the gentle Ghost of Christmas Past, the jolly Ghost of Christmas Present and the terrifying Ghost of Christmas to Come, all of whom want to teach him a lesson...
